PEFC Accreditation

PEFC Accreditation is important to printers like Lemon Press. Based near Birmingham, Lemon Press works with customers throughout the Midlands and the UK who need good, reliable supply chain information. Whilst the PEFC does not set specific standards, it is an overarching brand that includes several different national forest certification schemes. We support its intention to make forest certification easier and applicable to a diverse range of forests. It is important to us, and also to our customers, particularly with environmental legislation becoming more strict.

Sustainable Forest Management

These national schemes all promote sustainable forest management and are supported by nearly 150 governments across the world. They cover approximately 85% of the world’s forest area.

The PEFC provides an assurance to buyers of wood and paper products that they are contributing to the sustainable management of forests. With the increasing importance of the environment to many businesses, particularly with the introduction of ISO14001, this initiative is important to printers like Lemon Press who supply both digital printing and lithographic printing. Chain of Custody and supply chain information is part of the ISO14001 accreditation programme.

Worldwide Membership

PEFC has in its membership 35 independent national forest certification systems. So far 25 schemes have been assessed, involving public consultation and independent assessors.

The remaining 10 national members schemes are at different stages. All members are working steadily towards mutual recognition under their set processes.
